A RESOLUTION RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2020-048 AND THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS DATED MAY 14, 2020; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT IN ITS PLACE PROVIDING FOR THE DELIVERY OF 911 DISPATCH COMMUNICATION SERVICES.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek approved Resolution No. 2020-048 on May 14, 2020, to provide for an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) with the City of Coral Springs for 911 dispatch services. The ILA included Exhibit “A,” Timeline, and Exhibit “B,” Compensation Schedule, with participation from three cities.

DISCUSSION:

Since the City Commission approved the ILA on May 14, 2020, the City of Coral Springs has updated Sections 8.02 and 8.03.  The changes to Section 8.02 require Coconut Creek to participate in 911 dispatch services for both police and fire services. The changes to Section 8.03 trigger the termination of the 911 dispatch ILA should Coconut Creek desire to participate with only police or fire after implementation of the agreement.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
