A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH CRAIG B. KUSHNIR D.O., LLC TO PROVIDE MEDICAL DIRECTOR SERVICES FOR COCONUT CREEK FIRE RESCUE AND THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK.

BACKGROUND:
According to Chapter 401, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 64J, Florida Administrative Code, a Medical Director is required to provide the requirements for an agency providing an Emergency Medical Services System, which employs or utilizes Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and/or Paramedics to perform basic and/or advanced life support procedures and said Medical Director must be a Board Certified Physician pursuant to Chapter 458, Florida Statutes.
DISCUSSION:
Dr. Craig Kushnir was one of three physicians evaluated for the Medical Director position for Coconut Creek Fire Rescue. Dr. Kushnir was the best candidate for Coconut Creek with his vast knowledge and experience in the emergency medicine field. Dr. Kushnir is the Medical Director of the Emergency Department of Northwest Medical Center and the Medical Director for Delray Beach Fire Rescue. In addition to Dr. Kushnir, Dr. Peter Antevy was chosen as the Associate Medical Director to provide Medical Direction for Coconut Creek in the event that Dr. Kushnir is not available. Dr. Antevy is nationally recognized as the innovator of the Handtevy Pediatric Resuscitation System in addition to his extensive work in the pre-hospital emergency care field. In the event that Dr. Kushnir and Dr. Antevy are not available, Dr. Matthew Lickerman will provide Medical Direction. Dr. Lickerman is the backup Medical Director of the Emergency Department of Northwest Medical Center. The term of the agreement commences on April 1, 2021, and ends on September 30, 2024, with the ability to extend for one additional three-year term.
