BACKGROUND:
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award Program in 1984 to encourage and recognize state and local governments that produce budget documents of the highest quality. The program promotes excellence in budgeting by encouraging budget documents that align with the principles of the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and GFOA's budgeting best practices.
Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 marked the City's 26th consecutive year of receiving the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. In addition, the City earned special recognition for its Performance Measures and Strategic Goals and Strategies. This distinction is awarded only when all three (3) GFOA reviewers assign the highest possible rating in a specific category.
These recognitions reflect the Finance and Administrative Services Department's continued commitment to excellence in budgeting and financial management. They also demonstrate the City's dedication to producing a budget document that effectively serves as a policy document, operations guide, financial plan, and communications tool.
