A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR AN INVENTORY LIST OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY AND FINDING NO PROPERTY ON SAID LIST IS APPROPRIATE FOR USE AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 166.0451, FLORIDA STATUTES.

body

BACKGROUND:

Section 166.0451, Florida Statutes, requires municipalities to prepare an inventory list of all real property owned by the municipality every three years to make a determination if any real property on the inventory is appropriate for use as affordable housing.

DISCUSSION:

Staff has prepared a list of real property owned by the City in accordance with the requirements of Section 166.0451, Florida Statutes, to determine if any of the property can be utilized for the development of affordable housing, attached as Exhibit “A.”  Staff has reviewed the properties, and all, but a few, are committed to public uses, such as parks, or are undevelopable (streets, landscape buffers, etcetera).  The remaining developable properties are within the MainStreet Project Area (484218110010, 484218110020, 484218160030, 484218040040, and 484218030050), and are part of the City’s economic development strategy for developing the City’s downtown area. As such, it is the opinion of staff that no property on said list is suitable for use as affordable housing due to lack of proper zoning, deed restrictions, or other limiting conditions.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
