Background:

Broward County Transit (BCT) currently has a partnership with the City of Coconut Creek through an interlocal agreement to provide community shuttle service; and as part of the surtax program, they have committed to full funding of the Community Shuttle Program.  This resolution incorporates the Butterfly Express into that program and requests full funding. 

Discussion:

The City of Coconut Creek sought opportunities to improve and grow the City’s mobility and connectivity options by expanding its Community Shuttle Service and added the Butterfly Express to its route system without County financial support.  In light of the successful Transportation Surtax Referendum in November 2018, the City supports partnering with Broward County Transit to provide full funding for all of our Community Shuttle services including the Butterfly Express.  City staff recently submitted a Community Shuttle Program Service Application to BCT in pursuit of obtaining an award of operational funds to provide financial support for the Butterfly Express. This resolution supports the above referenced application.
