A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK AND KAREN M. BROOKS, AS CITY MANAGER.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek desires to employ the services of Karen M. Brooks, as City Manager, pursuant to Article IV, entitled “City Manager,” of the City of Coconut Creek City Charter.

DISCUSSION:

At the end of the August 8, 2019, City Commission Workshop, City Manager Mary C. Blasi announced her retirement date of October 3, 2019.   At that meeting, the Commission gave direction to the City Clerk to schedule a Workshop to discuss the promotion of and attached employment contract with Karen M. Brooks, Deputy City Manager and Chief Financial Officer, as the new City Manager.

The proposed employment agreement represents the final product of negotiations between the City and Karen M. Brooks.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

EXPENDITURES:                     $ 252,294.63 plus benefits
