BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek is committed to enhancing community aesthetics and promoting a stronger, safer, and more sustainable community by providing funding assistance through the Neighborhood Enhancement Grant (NEG) Program.

DISCUSSION:

For Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23), the NEG Program has a budget of $195,000 to fund neighborhood projects. The Antigua II Neighborhood Association is requesting $8,757.09 in matching grant funds from the NEG Program to enhance community safety and security. The total project cost is $17,514.18. The program guidelines provide a maximum reimbursement of $10,000 for security projects. Some records associated with this agenda item are exempt from public disclosure pursuant to Section 281.301, F.S. and Section 119.071(3)(a), F.S.

The Antingua II Neighborhood Association application is the sixth NEG of FY23. This grant project is a further enhancement of the community and satisfies the standards established by the NEG Program.

Antigua II was awarded a Security Enhancement Grant on March 11, 2021. The Neighborhood Enhancement Grant Program Guidelines state that an applicant who has previously received funds will not be eligible to receive additional funds for five (5) years unless there are no other applicants that meet the criteria and/or funding requirements.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
