AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY’S CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 13, “LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE,” ARTICLE III, “ADMINISTRATION, REGULATION AND PROCEDURES,” DIVISION 4, “FEE SCHEDULES,” BY AMENDING SECTION 13-82 TO ADD FEES FOR VACATION RENTAL REGISTRATION AND INSPECTIONS AND SECTION 13-83 TO RECOGNIZE THE REQUIRED COUNTY SPECIAL INSPECTORS MINIMUM FEE.  (SECOND READING)(PUBLIC HEARING)

body

BACKGROUND:

This item was approved on First Reading at the January 14, 2021, City Commission Meeting.

The City desires to amend Chapter 13 of the Land Development Code, Code of Ordinances, Article I, entitled “Administration, Regulations and Procedures” by amending Division 4, entitled “Fee Schedules,” to add fees for vacation rental registration and inspections.

DISCUSSION:

As provided for in the proposed ordinance establishing registration requirements and regulations relating to vacation rentals, revisions to the fee schedule are necessary and appropriate.  The proposed ordinance provides for registration and inspection fees as part of the implementation of the proposed vacation rental registration program.  In addition, the ordinance provides local implementation of the minimum fee for special inspections required by Broward County.  This is unrelated to the vacation rental program but is serves to address an omission in our current fee schedule.

RECOMMENDATION:

The Planning and Zoning Board, at its December 9, 2020, meeting, recommended approval of this ordinance.

FISCAL IMPACT:

It is anticipated that this amendment will result in negligible fiscal impact.
