body

BACKGROUND:

On March 12, 2020, Mayor Lou Sarbone declared a state of emergency in the City of Coconut Creek, and on March 18, 2020, the City Commission, in response to the extremely threatening trajectory of the COVID-19 virus, postponed, cancelled, or suspended, for a period of 30 days up through and including April 18, 2020, all meetings of the City Commission, City boards, including all advisory and statutory boards, City committees, and City working groups.  On April 23, 2020, the City Commission extended the cancellation or suspension of all City boards and City working groups with the exception of the Development Review Committee and the Charter Review Board, through May 31, 2020.

At this time, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of all for the City Commission to continue with the postponement, cancellation, or suspension of all Coconut Creek advisory board meetings and City working groups with the exception of the Development Review Committee and the Code Enforcement Fine Reduction Committee through June 30, 2020.

The City Commission finds that it is necessary to allow for virtual public meetings for all meetings of the City Commission, the Development Review Committee, and the Code Enforcement Fine Reduction Committee until the City’s Emergency Declaration, plus any extensions thereto, expires, unless otherwise required by state law.
