BACKGROUND:

This item was approved on First Reading at the September 12, 2019, City Commission Meeting.

The City recognizes the need to provide professional law-enforcement coverage for residents and businesses in circumstances beyond that of normal, daily patrols. Section 2-57 of the City’s Code of Ordinances provides for the use of police personnel in these circumstances.

DISCUSSION:

This ordinance proposes to amend Section 2-57 of the City’s Code to be consistent with the terms used in the Collective Bargaining Agreements and Police Department procedures.  It also calls for an increase in the hourly fees for both daily details ($42 to $50) and holiday special details ($52 to $60).

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this ordinance.
