A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING NOVEMBER 25, 2023, AS “SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY.”

BACKGROUND:
Since its inception in 2010, Small Business Saturday has illuminated the significance of supporting small, independently-owned businesses across the country. Falling between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it's a day dedicated to supporting the diverse range of local businesses that help create jobs, boost the economy, and keep communities thriving across the country. This year, Small Business Saturday will be celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 25, 2023.
In 2022, more than 800 mayors and city officials joined together to support Small Business Saturday. Below are some highlights of last year’s efforts:
• U.S. consumers reported spending a record high total of an estimated $17.9 billion at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday.
• 72% of shoppers Said Small Business Saturday makes them want to shop and dine at small, independently-owned retailers and restaurants all year long.
• 72% of shoppers strongly agreed that they will continue to Shop Small throughout the holiday season because of the impact it has on their local community.
