A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED AGREEMENT WITH SERGEANT AMANDA L. CUMMINGS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A K-9.

BACKGROUND:

K-9 Noble is five and a half (5 ½) years old and has served the Coconut Creek Police Department with distinction for the past four (4) years. He is ready for retirement.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to retaining a high-quality workforce and ensuring public safety. Due to the number of years of service and his handler being promoted to the rank of sergeant, the decision was made to retire K-9 Noble. Staff recommends that the City sell K-9 Noble to his partner, Sergeant Amanda Cummings, as is customary in the law enforcement profession after a K-9’s retirement.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

FISCAL IMPACT:
