BACKGROUND:
The City retained WGI, Inc. under RFQ No. 10-06-21-11, pursuant to an agreement dated January 18, 2022, to provide consultant landscape services in support of MainStreet, Greystar, and other general landscape permit reviews and inspections. The initial agreement amount of $25,000 was below the threshold for Commission approval. The agreement has been extended annually to continue providing landscape services.
During the current fiscal year, additional workload demands arose due to large development projects, such as MainStreet and Greystar, entering the permitting phase, and one (1) City staff member in the Landscape Division retired. To maintain service levels and ensure timely review of development permits, the City expanded WGI's role to assist City staff in the review and inspection of larger and more complex review assignments and manage daily operations.
As a result of these expanded responsibilities, the original contract amount of $25,000 was exhausted more quickly than anticipated.
DISCUSSION:
The City desires to continue utilizing WGI, Inc. for consultant landscape review and inspection services in support of the Landscape Division of the Resilient Design and Development Department in order to maintain service levels and ensure there are no delays in development project permitting. Staff anticipates that the additional $45,000 will support these services through the end of the fiscal year. Approval of this work authorization will allow the City to continue these services without interruption for the remainder of the fiscal year.
