BACKGROUND:
This item was approved at First Reading with no changes or conditions.
In July, 2014, the City Commission approved, by consensus, a Zoning in Progress with respect to the use of e-cigarettes and other vapor producing devices, and directed staff to draft regulations related to the use of e-cigarettes and other vapor producing devices in commercial establishments that cater to on-site use.
DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to providing zoning regulations that protect the health, safety and welfare of its citizens, by providing that retail electronic-cigarette/vaporizer stores (for which more than fifty percent (50%) of the gross floor area is dedicated to the storage, mixing, display, and/or retail sale of electronic cigarette devices), smoking lounges, cigar bars, hookah bars, vapor bars, and vapor lounges shall be included as a special land use on the City’s Master Business List, B-2, B-3, and B-4.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
