BACKGROUND:
Communities across America have been plagued by the numerous problems associated with illicit drug use and the trafficking of drugs. To encourage a drug-free lifestyle and involvement in drug prevention and reduction efforts necessary to keep our communities healthy and safe, the Red Ribbon Campaign was established by Congress in 1988.
The City of Coconut Creek and the Young Marines organization, including its South Florida Unit known as the PFC Bruce W. Carter MOH Young Marines, are proud to participate in this year’s Red Ribbon Week campaign to raise awareness on the importance of living a drug-free lifestyle. True to its mission to develop good citizenship and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle in our youth, the Young Marines organization plays a key role in educating communities about the importance of Red Ribbon Week.
