BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek’s Purchasing and Contracts Division has earned the Outstanding Agency Accreditation Award “OA4” from NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement. This sought-after award formally recognizes public procurement agencies’ achievement of a collection of standards and best practices evidencing sound industry practices.

Agencies are able to apply on a rolling basis once they have fulfilled numerous best practice benchmarks in 11 major categories to include strategies, technology, standards and procurement technology. Accreditation is effective for a period of three years.

This is the first time the City has received this credential.  This notable milestone has only been achieved by three other agencies in Broward County; and only 156 agencies of the 3,000 total national membership has achieved accreditation since the program’s inception.  Awardees are presented with their trophies at the Annual Forum in August.

NIGP’s goal is the developing, supporting, and promoting of the public procurement profession through educational and research programs, professional support, technical services, and advocacy initiatives for the benefit of members and constituents since 1944. Representing over 16,200 professionals across the United States, Canada, and countries outside of North America, NIGP is international in its reach.

In addition to national membership, the City of Coconut Creek is also a longtime member of the local affiliate Southeast Florida Chapter of NIGP.
