A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) FISCAL YEAR 2027 (FY27) TEEN DRIVER SAFETY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000); AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT WITH FDOT FOR TEEN SPEEDING AND DISTRACTED DRIVING EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT.

BACKGROUND:
The City applied for and was awarded funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the FY27 Teen Driver Safety Grant in the amount of $25,000.
DISCUSSION:
In alignment with the City’s commitment to public safety, the awarded grant funding will be used towards the City’s campaign to reduce teen traffic crashes, fatalities, and serious injuries related to speeding and teen distracted driving. The grant will offset incurred overtime, allowing the Coconut Creek Police Department to participate in enforcement and community education activities.

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
