A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED BROWARD HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU).

BACKGROUND:
The Florida Mutual Aid Act, contained in Chapter 23, Part 1, of the Florida Statutes, permits law enforcement agencies to provide voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional boundaries by entering into a mutual aid agreement.
DISCUSSION:
The Broward Human Trafficking Task Force provides for law enforcement agencies across Broward County to work together through a collaborative and victim-centered framework to combat criminal organizations involved in human trafficking. The MOU provides for a three (3) year term with the option to renew upon written approval of the parties. Also, on this agenda for the Commission’s consideration is a separate MOU with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to maximize the participation in the Broward Human Trafficking Task Force.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
