body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek’s South Creek neighborhood roadway infrastructure has been impacted by traffic-induced fatigue, and the City is seeking to commit to the design and construction for the South Creek Neighborhood Improvement Project.  This project has been identified as a priority to support mobility improvements.

The City is submitting an application for funding from the Municipal Capital Projects Program (funded by the Transportation Surtax) for design and construction of the South Creek Neighborhood Improvements Project, which includes but is not limited to roadways, sidewalks, drainage, and bridges. Said improvements are for select City-owned local roadways located between Coconut Creek Parkway and West Atlantic Boulevard and between Lyons Road and Florida’s Turnpike.

DISCUSSION:

As part of the Mobility Advancement Program (MAP Broward), the City is required to provide a resolution, expressing support for the South Creek Neighborhood Improvement Project, and commit to funding the maintenance of the improvements to be constructed within the City of Coconut Creek’s right-of-way.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Future costs or fiscal impacts to the City may be budgeted as part of future Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), pending surtax approval.
