BACKGROUND:
The City is committed to protecting its residents and visitors and to the protection of property while creating a safe environment for all who live, work, or visit our community. The City is also committed to retaining a high-quality workforce and ensuring public safety. Utilizing LETF funds to help pay School Resource Officers (SRO) to provide safety and peace of mind for school staff, students and their families, helps solidify these commitments.
DISCUSSION:
Please see the attached memorandum from Police Chief Albert Arenal to City Manager Karen Brooks, explaining the request to help pay the salaries of the SROs in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
