AGENDA ITEM REPORT

TITLE:

title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH ADVANCED ROOFING, INC. TO PROVIDE FOR ROOF REPLACEMENT AND THE INSTALLATION OF A SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM AT THE GOVERNMENT CENTER PURSUANT TO BID NO. 01-16-19-10.

body

BACKGROUND:

The Government Center roof is 26 years old, in poor condition, and at the end of its effective life. The City Commission approved replacement of the roof, including installation of solar panels in the FY19 Capital Improvement Program budget.  To that end, the City issued Bid No. 01-16-19-10 on January 16, 2019, for the purpose of obtaining a qualified contractor to provide the aforementioned services in accordance with the bid specifications.

DISCUSSION

Two (2) submittals were received for Bid No. 01-16-19-10. Advanced Roofing, Inc. and Atlas Apex Roofing, LLC were both deemed responsible and responsive bidders.  A photovoltaic solar panel system has been selected as an “add alternative.” After careful review of the bid submittals, including references and performance on other jobs of similar scope and value, staff is recommending that the City enter into an agreement with Advanced Roofing, Inc., the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, for the purpose of replacing the Government Center roof and installing a solar photovoltaic system.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
