BACKGROUND:
On June 16, 2024, the City issued RFP No. 08-07-24-11 to retain the services of qualified and experienced firms to provide household/emergency hazardous waste collection, disposal, and other related services. The City of Coconut Creek is the lead agency for this cooperative contract on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Co-operative Group.
DISCUSSION:
Electronic solicitations were issued through the eBid System to fifty-three (53) potential vendors, resulting in the receipt of four (4) proposals from the following companies: 1) Clean Harbors Environmental Services; 2) Cliff Berry, Inc.; 3) MXI Environmental Services, LLC; and 4) U.S. Ecology Tampa, Inc., an affiliate of Republic Services of Florida, LP.
The submittals were evaluated based on the criteria listed in the RFP by the selection committee comprised of Mike Heimbach, Public Works Project Manager-Solid Waste, City of Coconut Creek; Melissa Doyle, Division Manager, Solid Waste and Recycling- Sustainability Department, City of Fort Lauderdale; Russell Ketchem, Director of Environmental Services, City of Pompano Beach; Steve Ramanand, Public Works Solid Waste and Recycling Specialist, City of Coconut Creek; and Claudia Alzate, Environmental Program Manager, City of Coral Springs. After evaluating the submittals, the selection committee recommends awarding the contract to U.S. Ecology Tampa, Inc., an affiliate of Republic Services of Florida, LP, for the household hazardous waste collection and disposal services and to Cliff Berry, Inc. for the emergency hazardous waste col...
