A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE A WORK AUTHORIZATION FOR ARCHITECTURE, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND URBAN DESIGN SERVICES WITH CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING PLAN REVIEW SERVICES FOR THE MAINSTREET PROJECT IN ACCORDANCE WITH RFQ NO. 10-06-21-11.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City has an agreement with Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. (Consultant) for Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, and Urban Design Services, which also includes engineering services pursuant to RFQ No. 10-06-21-11.

DISCUSSION:

Due to the high number of engineering plan submittals in a short period of time, the City intends to retain consulting services to help with engineering reviews for the MainStreet project and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Given that the selected Consultant is already familiar with the MainStreet project through a current work authorization for landscape plan review services, City staff has determined that it is most efficient and in the City’s best interest to engage the same Consultant for this additional scope of work.

The scope of work includes the review of approximately twenty-four (24) engineering submittals projected at approximately 480 hours, with additional services, such as attending meetings, as needed.  The Consultant has submitted a proposal, attached as Exhibit “A,” to provide these services at a cost not to exceed $70,000, pursuant to RFQ No. 10-06-21-11.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
