A PROCLAMATION CELEBRATING APRIL 2026 AS “FAIR HOUSING MONTH.”

BACKGROUND:
April 11, 2026, celebrates the 58th anniversary of the passing of Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, known as the Fair Housing Act. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing units, and in other housing-related transactions, based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. The goal of this Act is to ensure all people have equal access to the housing of their choice.
