A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE ATTACHED GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE FOR SUNSHINE DRIVE PARK IMPROVEMENTS.

BACKGROUND:
As part of the annual State Legislative process, each year the City applies for appropriations through the House and Senate. One of the City’s submitted projects, Sunshine Drive Park Improvements, was selected to receive $315,000 through the Florida Department of Commerce Grant Fund.
DISCUSSION:
This grant will help fund much needed improvements to the City’s Sunshine Drive Park. Proposed improvements to the park include the creation of a recycled, rubber ADA-accessible walking path, playground, half-court basketball court, and outdoor exercise equipment. It is in the best interest of the City to accept this grant, which will help partially finance the proposed park improvements.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
