A MOTION AUTHORIZING A SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF BUS SHELTERS FROM LANDSCAPE FORMS, INC., USING THE CITY’S P-CARD, FOR A TOTAL COST OF $89,340.

BACKGROUND:
In January of 2013, the City Commission approved the City’s Amenities Package. Included in the package is the Kaleidoscope Bus Shelter from Landscape Forms, Inc.
DISCUSSION:
The bus shelters are the same shelters that have been installed by Broward County in various locations within the City and will also be installed by the Florida Department of Transportation on State Road 7. The shelters are to be placed in the following locations: One (1) at the Lyons Road entrance to Wynmoor; one (1) at Sample Road and NW 42nd Avenue eastbound; and one (1) at Sample Road and NW 42nd Avenue westbound. The one (1) shelter at the Lyons Road entrance to Wynmoor is being replaced as the existing one is not in compliance with current A.D.A. requirements. The two (2) shelters on Sample Road are former Clear Channel shelters that are in poor condition.
It should be noted that Public Works staff is currently working with Broward County on the installation of an additional shelter on eastbound Copans Road just east of Lyons Road. This is currently in design, working out right-of-way and retainage wall needs, and is anticipated to be installed in FY18. The County has indicated the possibility of contributing to the funding of this shelter.

Staff recommends approval of this Motion.
