AGENDA ITEM REPORT

TITLE:

title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE AMENDED AND RESTATED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY TO PROVIDE INTEROPERABLE RADIO COMMUNICATIONS.

body

BACKGROUND:

The City entered into Interlocal Agreement R2009-1173, dated July 21, 2009, with Palm Beach County to provide access to the Talk Group on Palm Beach County’s Public Safety Trunked Radio System, which provided critical interoperable communications among municipalities and county agencies.  The First Amendment (R2014-0930) to the Interlocal Agreement, dated July 1, 2014, set forth the parameters under which the City could access the Talk Group. This Amended and Restated Interlocal Agreement is to continue the public safety benefit of this interoperability.

DISCUSSION:

The City and Palm Beach County have determined that the ability to provide interoperable communications is critical to the effective and efficient provision of public safety. It has been determined to be mutually beneficial to both the City and Palm Beach County to execute this Amended and Restated Interlocal Agreement, which sets forth the parameters under which the City can access the Common Talk Groups established on Palm Beach County’s Public Safety Radio System.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
