BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to contract with qualified and professional companies to provide nuisance abatement services on an as needed basis. Nuisance abatement contractors are used principally as a last resort in Code Enforcement cases when the City declares a particular property a public nuisance and we go on site to remediate.
DISCUSSION:
On April 10, 2016, the City issued IFB No. 04-27-16-10 for nuisance abatement services. On April 27, 2016, the City opened bid submittals from four (4) companies, including R & A Woods Enterprises Inc., Cunano Builders Corp., Greco International Corp., and SKKV Property Maintenance, LLC. The bids submitted by R & A Woods Enterprises Inc. and Cunano Builders Corp. were determined to be non-responsive for failure to submit required bid documents. Jim Berkman, Public Works Director, and Glenn Sime, Code Compliance Supervisor, reviewed the remaining bids; and it was determined that Greco International Corp. submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid followed by SKKV Property Maintenance, LLC.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approving this Resolution and the associated Agreements to award a primary and a secondary (back-up) contract for nuisance abatement services with Greco International Corp. as the primary contractor and SKKV Property Maintenance, LLC as the secondary contractor in the event that the primary contractor is unable to provide services for any reason. The term of the contracts will each be for three (3) years from the date of execution with up to two (2) one (1) year extensions.
