body

BACKGROUND:

The Florida Mutual Aid Act authorizes law enforcement agencies to enter into agreements for voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional lines as well as to render assistance in a law enforcement emergency.

DISCUSSION:

The City of Coconut Creek previously entered into a mutual aid agreement with the Seminole Tribe on May 17, 2011.  That Agreement expired on May 17, 2016.  The proposed Agreement, attached, provides both parties the opportunity to receive assistance from each other when dealing with any multi-jurisdictional criminal law enforcement and non-criminal activities, as well as emergencies.  The Agreement further provides for mutual aid to be provided for a period of three (3) years.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval to execute the attached Agreement.
