BACKGROUND:

The City of Coconut Creek was approached by Florida Power & Light Company (hereinafter “FPL”) to enhance City-owned property through the installation of Electric Vehicle (hereinafter “EV”) charging stations on City property, as yet to be determined.

DISCUSSION:

In keeping with its overall mission of sustainability and energy efficiency, the City desires to include the “conspicuous display of green” to charge electric vehicles on City-owned property. The proposed agreement provides for use of EV charging stations at no cost for a term of seven (7) years. The City is responsible for the cost of the electricity to power the chargers.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.

EXPENDITURES:                      Costs associated with providing electricity.

NOTES:  Exact locations of the EV charging stations will be determined by an extensive site visit to City Hall, the Recreation Center, the Community Center, and Sabal Pines Park to determine suitable electrical sources.
