BACKGROUND:

The “Florida Mutual Aid Act,” contained in Part I, Chapter 23, of the Florida Statutes, permits law enforcement agencies to provide voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional boundaries by entering into a mutual aid agreement.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to protecting its residents and ensuring public safety. By entering into this mutual aid agreement, it allows the Coconut Creek Police Department the advantage of receiving and extending mutual aid in the form of K-9 Detection Enforcement Activities to other participating Broward County Law Enforcement agencies. The agreement will expire on July 30, 2029.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
