A PRESENTATION RECOGNIZING MR. DAN GODSTON FOR OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERISM IN THE CITY.

BACKGROUND:
Don Godston, along with other volunteers, took on the responsibility for the community garden located at the Coconut Creek Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road, in November 2021. Along with Public Works, and through funding from the Broward Chapter of the Sierra Club, Parks and Recreation provided the volunteers with planter beds, soil, irrigation, and a few plants to assist with the setup of the garden. The existing mulch was cleared, planter beds were assembled, soil was placed in the planters, and new plant material was installed. Mr. Godston and his team of volunteers educated the community about basic gardening principles and, through their work, demonstrated the importance of teamwork and community building. Today, the garden is thriving and attracting an assortment of butterflies. The City of Coconut Creek Parks and Recreation Department thanks Mr. Godston, the volunteers, and the Sierra Club for their efforts and contributions.
