body

BACKGROUND:

The Fire Rescue Protection Services Assessment Ordinance (Ordinance No. 2021-019) provides for an annual assessment against certain properties for fire rescue protection services, facilities, and programs.

DISCUSSION:

This resolution sets the fire assessment rates for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, to recover approximately ninety-five percent (95%) of the cost of providing fire rescue protection services. It imposes the assessment against certain properties within the City of Coconut Creek and approves the assessment roll provided by the Broward County Property Appraiser's Office. A ten percent (10.00%) increase is proposed to cover the cost to provide fire rescue protection services and is supported by the Fiscal Year 2022 Fire Protection Non-Ad Valorem Assessment Study dated August 31, 2021. Please see Exhibit “A” for a listing of assessment rates by property type.
