A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MARGATE AND THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK FOR TELETYPE SERVICES.

body

BACKGROUND:

On August 29, 2013, the City Commission approved the Participation Agreement with Broward County for regional E-911 dispatch services. Teletype services, a required service of the Police Department normally handled by dispatchers, was retained as a responsibility of the City. The City of Margate also joined the regional E-911 system, and on November 20, 2013, the City of Coconut Creek and the City of Margate entered into an Interlocal Agreement for teletype services.

DISCUSSION:

The parties desire to amend the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Coconut Creek and the City of Margate for teletype services to provide for a five (5) year extension to the Agreement and to allow Margate the ability to terminate the Agreement with sixty (60) days’ notice if Margate should contract with an E-911 dispatch provider that includes teletype services.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
