BACKGROUND:
The purchase of two (2) Polaris Rangers, each in the amount of Twenty-Four Thousand Dollars ($24,000) totaling Forty-Eight Thousand Dollars ($48,000), is intended to replace the three (3) decommissioned T3 vehicles, which were previously employed at community events to enable officers to navigate crowds efficiently. The two (2) new Polaris Rangers will fulfill the same role by enhancing officer mobility and visibility at community events.
DISCUSSION:
Please reference the attached memo from Chief of Police Frederick C. Hofer II to City Manager Sheila N. Rose, explaining the request to purchase the two (2) new Polaris Rangers, totaling Forty-Eight Thousand Dollars ($48,000) from the Federal Forfeiture Justice Fund.
