BACKGROUND:

Section 2-82 of the City’s Code of Ordinances contains the provisions for the use of off-duty firefighters/paramedics or fire inspectors for unofficial functions.                     

DISCUSSION:

The City seeks to amend Section 2-82 of the Code of Ordinances to adjust the hourly rates for regular and holiday special detail assignments as follows:

Regular Rate

                     Firefighter/Paramedic/Fire Inspector:  $60.00 to $70.00

                     Supervisor: $75.00 to $80.00

Holiday Rate

                     Firefighter/Paramedic/Fire Inspector:  $75.00 to $85.00

                     Supervisor: $95.00 to $100.00

This amendment is intended to align the City’s fee structure with the terms of the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement for Fiscal Years 2027 through 2029.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this ordinance.

NOTES: Any fees that are collected would cover the cost of the firefighter/paramedic or fire inspector providing the off-duty detail. Fees will be deposited to Account 01-V34222 - Fire Services.
