BACKGROUND:
The Solid Waste Services Assessment Ordinance (Ordinance No. 2000-28) provides for an annual assessment against single-family residences for solid waste collection and disposal services, facilities, and programs.
DISCUSSION:
This resolution sets the solid waste services assessment rate for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026, as $326.54; imposes the assessment against certain properties within the City of Coconut Creek; and approves the assessment roll provided by the Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office. This represents an approximate four point five zero percent (4.50%) increase from the current annual rate of $312.48.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The solid waste assessment will generate approximately $2,695,750 in net revenues, of which $2,236,910 is passed through to Republic Services, the City’s solid waste hauler. The City will retain approximately $401,220 in solid waste franchise fees (Account 01-V32370) and $57,620 in other fees (Account 01-V32520).
