A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE SURTAX FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH BROWARD COUNTY FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026 (FY26) FORMULA-BASED FUNDING FOR MUNICIPAL REHABILITATION AND MAINTENANCE PROJECTS (RMCOCO-002 AND RMCOCO-003).

BACKGROUND:
The Broward County Penny for Transportation (Surtax) Mobility Advancement Program (MAP) provides annual formula-based funding allocations to participating municipalities for eligible transportation-related projects. The City of Coconut Creek submitted applications for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) funding in accordance with the Transportation System Surtax Interlocal Agreement (as amended). Broward County approved funding for two (2) rehabilitation and maintenance (R&M) projects, specifically the design phase of the NW 74th Place Roadway and Sidewalk Rehabilitation project and the Comprehensive Street Improvements Design - Phase III project. These projects are intended to improve roadway conditions, pedestrian accessibility, and overall transportation infrastructure within the City.
DISCUSSION:
The Surtax Funding Agreement (Agreement) provides $190,953 for the design phase of the following projects:
• NW 74th Place Roadway and Sidewalk Rehabilitation (RMCOCO-002) - $29,953
• Comprehensive Street Improvements Design - Phase III (RMCOCO-003) - $161,000
The City has also elected to defer $152,147 of its FY26 allocation to FY27. Under the Agreement, the City is responsible for project implementation and compliance with all applicable requirements. Approval of this resolution authorizes execution of the Agreement and allows the projects to proceed.
