A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) FISCAL YEAR 2026/2027 (FY26/27) PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE SAFETY HIGH VISIBILITY EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN SUBGRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000); AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE THE SUBGRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE INSTITUTE OF POLICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT FOR PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE SAFETY EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT.

BACKGROUND:
The City applied for and was awarded subgrant funding through the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) FY26/27 Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety High Visibility Education and Enforcement Campaign Grant in the amount of $5,000.
DISCUSSION:
In alignment with the City’s commitment to public safety, the awarded grant funding will be used toward offsetting expenses for overtime, allowing the Coconut Creek Police Department to educate the public on the importance of pedestrian and bicycle safety laws in an effort to reduce traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists using high visibility enforcement and education.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
