A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A PLANNING & ZONING BOARD MEMBER TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE, "AHAC," IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2-255 OF THE CITY'S CODE OF ORDINANCES AND SECTION 420.9076, FLORIDA STATUTES, ALSO KNOWN AS THE SHIP ACT.

body
BACKGROUND:

In accordance with Section 2-255 of the City's Code of Ordinances, the City Commission shall appoint between eight (8) and eleven (11) members to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, hereinafter "AHAC," with varying qualifications pursuant to the requirements of Section 420.9076, Florida Statutes, also known as the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Act.
On July 28, 2016, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2016-106, which appointed the following eight (8) members to the AHAC:
1. Joseph Fahey - Construction Labor Representative
2. Raymond Lebowitz - Resident of the City
3. Dominick Mangone - For-Profit Developer
4. Ryan Marken - Essential Service Personnel
5. Cheryl Stein - Real Estate Professional
6. Karen Trudeau - Banking or Mortgage Banking Industry
7. Keith Velian - Residential Home Building Industry
8. Thomas Head - Local Business Representative

On September 22, 2016, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2016-198, which affirmed the Planning & Zoning Board's recommendation to appoint Alfred Delgado as the Planning and Zoning Board representative on the AHAC.

DISCUSSION:
Following the annual board appointments this past April, Mr. Delgado no longer serves on the Planning and Zoning Board, and there is a need to fill the vacancy on the AHAC. The Planning & Zoning Board selected Doug Young from its membership to fill the Planning & Zoning Board member seat on the AHAC at its July 12, 2017, meeting. This Resolution effectuates the Planning & Zoning Board's nomination and fills the Committee with nine total members for the remainder of the three (3) year term, ending July 28, 2019.
