BACKGROUND:
The Sample Road Improvements Project (COCO-016) is funded through the Broward County Transportation Surtax Mobility Advancement Program (MAP). The City has completed the design phase and obtained all required permits, including approval from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the right-of-way owner, and is advancing to the construction phase. Improvements include widening the sidewalk along Sample Road from Lyons Road to the Tradewinds Park entrance, enhancing accessibility to the park, and installing crosswalks, bus shelter pads, and other necessary infrastructure.
DISCUSSION:
On March 8, 2026, the City issued five hundred eighty-one (581) electronic invitations to general contractors to bid for the construction phase of the Sample Road Improvements Project. The bid closed on April 6, 2026, with six (6) responsive submittals received from the following companies: (1) NAYSAC CORP ($965,281.27); (2) BDI Marine Contractors, LLC ($995,179.36); (3) Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc. ($999,068.20); (4) J&D Concrete Works Corp ($1,097,051.28); (5) Homestead Concrete & Drainage ($1,202,812.00); and (6) Kailas Corp. ($1,988,151.00). After confirmation of references and past performance reviews, staff recommends awarding the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, NAYSAC CORP for a total amount of $965,281.27 pursuant to IFB No. 04-06-26-10.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
