A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK’S 2024 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek works with our Federal Lobbyist each year to create a Federal Legislative Agenda to be submitted to the City’s Federal Delegation.
DISCUSSION:
Staff communicates with the City’s Federal Lobbyists, Van Scoyoc Associates, throughout the year on issues of legislative importance to the City. Based on these communications, a public workshop was held at 5:00 p.m. on December 20, 2023, to review the proposed Federal Legislative Agenda with the City Commission, Federal Lobbyists Jim Crum and Harry Glenn from Van Scoyoc Associates, State Lobbyists Candice Ericks and Lauren Jackson from Ericks Consulting, State Representative Christine Hunschofsky, and staff from State Senator Tina Polsky’s office. Following feedback from the workshop, staff updated the document, and the attached proposed 2024 Coconut Creek Federal Legislative Agenda outlines the City’s Federal legislative priorities for the upcoming year. Please note that the highlighted yellow text in Exhibit “A” represents added, edited or updated legislative information from the 2023 Federal Legislative Agenda as well as feedback from the December 20, 2023, Legislative Workshop.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
