BACKGROUND:
The City endeavors to be a good steward of the environment and its resources. We support sustainable and green living through our Green Plan, and have historically taken part in Broward County solar programs such as Go Solar.
DISCUSSION:
Solar energy allows citizens to move energy consumption to a more environmentally-friendly source, providing a self-sustaining, pollution-free form of energy. Solar co-ops organize groups of residents together into a group, or co-op, to leverage bulk-purchasing power to get discounted pricing and installation. Approval of this resolution supports the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
