A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH ERICKS CONSULTANTS, INC. FOR STATE AND LOCAL LOBBYING SERVICES PURSUANT TO RFP NO. 08-06-25-10.

body

BACKGROUND:

Given the many legislative issues impacting or having the potential to impact Coconut Creek, the City utilizes ethical, professional, and experienced state and local lobbying consultants to bring the most expertise and knowledge to the issues, needs, and concerns of municipal governing, and to advocate for the City.  The agreement with Ericks Consultants, Inc., who has provided state and local lobbying services to the City since 2009, to provide state and local lobbying services expires this month.

DISCUSSION:

On July 27, 2025, the City issued Request For Proposals (RFP) No. 08-06-25-10 to contract with a qualified firm to provide state and local lobbying services.  Solicitations were electronically sent through the eBid system to two hundred sixteen (216) firms. One (1) responsive proposal was received from Ericks Consultants, Inc.  A selection committee consisting of Bernadette Hughes, Government Affairs Manager; Peta-Gay Lake, Finance and Administrative Services Director; and Terrill Pyburn, City Attorney, evaluated the submittal based on the criteria listed in the RFP and recommends approval based on their qualifications and experience, resources and availability, past performance, and price. The contract term shall be for two (2) years with the option to renew for three (3) additional one (1) year periods for an annual cost of $48,000.
