BACKGROUND:
The City of Coconut Creek owns Track E of the Commerce Center of Coconut Creek, commonly known as the Butterfly Parking Lot. The City and the Seminole Tribe of Florida d/b/a Seminole Indian Casino-Coconut Creek have an ongoing Use Agreement that was approved at the December 14, 2023, City Commission Meeting. This agreement allows the Seminole Indian Casino-Coconut Creek to use this property for continued temporary and non-exclusive overflow parking throughout the year. The City retains the right to allocate portions of the lot for specific purposes, including but not limited to, temporary parking for other users completing economic development activities. Accordingly, in February of 2024, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 2024-024, authorizing a Temporary Use Agreement for Infiniti-Lincoln for storing cars while their new showroom facility was being constructed.
DISCUSSION:
The Infiniti-Lincoln showroom facility has not progressed as originally anticipated and the construction activities continue to disrupt the areas currently used for storing cars for sale. The property owner has asked if the City can, once again, accommodate temporary parking on the Butterfly Lot while they complete their showroom construction.
The attached agreement is similar to the previous, providing for the temporary use of a small portion of the lot during the completion of their construction, which is expected to be completed no later than September 30, 2025. They will pay to the City the sum of Ten Dollars ($10.00) for the duration of the agreement term, or any portion thereof.
