BACKGROUND:
This item was approved on First Reading at the May 25, 2023, City Commission Meeting.
The agent/applicant, Adriana Murillo, Stiles Architectural Group, on behalf of the owner, Gunther Motor Company, is seeking site plan approval for a building expansion to the existing Volvo Dealership for the addition of a Mitsubishi Auto Dealership at the existing Gunther site. The subject property is located at the southeast corner of North State Road 7/U.S.441 and Cullum Road and is within the City's MainStreet Project Area.
In 2013, the current property owner received site plan approval for a three-story garage (garage) that included a parts department, vehicle service bays, carwash, and employee parking for displaced surface parking spaces in addition to renovations to an existing "pre-owned" sales building (these additional renovations were not constructed). In 2017, in lieu of the 2013 renovations, the property owner received site plan approval for an expansion to the "pre-owned" sales building to allow a new Gunther Volvo Auto Dealership showroom and administrative sales offices.
In addition to the 2017 Volvo renovations and construction, the garage, located on the southern half of the subject property, has been constructed and both the Volkswagen and Volvo dealerships share service and parking facilities within the garage.
DISCUSSION:
