BACKGROUND:

K-9 Lucky is ten (10) years old and has served the Coconut Creek Police Department with distinction for the past nine and a half (9.5) years. He is ready for retirement.

DISCUSSION:

The City is committed to retaining a high-quality workforce and ensuring public safety. Considering the retirement of Officer Valenti and the physical condition and age of K-9 Lucky, staff recommends that the City sell K-9 Lucky to his partner, Officer Valenti, as is customary in the law enforcement profession after a K-9’s retirement.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of this resolution.
