BACKGROUND:

The City was approved for funding from the Broward County Housing Finance and Redevelopment Division in 2020 for the Hillsboro Boulevard Redevelopment Project. The public improvements associated with the project consist of 1,420 linear feet of pedestrian amenities, including landscaping, irrigation, street furniture, two (2) bus shelters, pedestrian lighting, public art, and a multi-use pathway. The project is consistent with the City of Coconut Creek Complete Streets Master Plan adopted in 2015. Preliminary cost estimates for this project are approximately $640,000.00, including design, environmental analysis, and construction inspections.
DISCUSSION:
In order for the City to apply for a permit application, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requests that the City adopt a resolution of support and execute a construction agreement (No. 2022-C-491-00001) in support of the proposed project. This resolution supports the permit application for a segment of Hillsboro Boulevard for the multi-use path and other public improvements illustrated in the plans completed by Carnahan Proctor and Cross. The Hillsboro Boulevard Redevelopment Project's location is described in the attached Exhibit "A." The proposed project will continue the City's efforts for complete streets improvements within the City. The Construction Agreement is attached as Exhibit "C."
