BACKGROUND:

This is a formal introduction of Chief of Police Fred Hofer to the Coconut Creek community and ceremonial badge pinning.

Chief Hofer has been a dedicated member of the Coconut Creek Police Department for over twenty-six (26) years, and we are very proud that Chief Hofer is our first Chief of Police promoted from within the Department.

Chief Hofer holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University and is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer Development School.  He took part in the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, where he learned from some of the best minds in the law enforcement and criminal justice communities.

Chief Hofer served on the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team for over two (2) decades, was a Detective on the Special Enforcement Team (SET), and after his promotion to Sergeant, he supervised the SET, K-9 Team, and Training Unit for several years. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2016; and just two (2) years later, his exceptional performance earned him a promotion to Captain.  In 2023, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police, and then Interim Chief of Police.

Chief Hofer’s impressive career trajectory and unwavering commitment to excellence leave no doubt that he will continue to make significant contributions to the City of Coconut Creek.  We are confident in Chief Hofer’s ability to lead the Department and know that he will continue to serve our community with excellence.
