BACKGROUND:

This item was approved on First Reading at the June 23, 2016, Commission Meeting.

Pursuant to Section 420.9072, Florida Statutes, the required makeup of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) has been modified to name at least eight (8) but not more than eleven (11) members to the AHAC.  Additionally, staff has determined that due to the specific qualifications for the AHAC members, and to conform with the meeting requirements of Section 420.9076 Florida Statutes, the terms of the members should be changed from one (1) year to three (3) years, and the Committee should meet as reqiured by State law or as otherwise needed.

DISCUSSION:

The goal is to amend this section of the Code so that it is consistent with the recent changes to State law that will take effect July 1, 2016.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval of the Ordinance, amending the number of members, terms of office, and the meeting requirements of the AHAC.
